Toyama Maru

DescriptionOn 29 June 1944 the troop ship, while carrying more than 6,000 men of the Japanese 44th Independent Mixed Brigade, was torpedoed and sunk by the submarine USS Sturgeon in the Nansei Shoto, off Taira Jima, Japan. There were about 600 survivors from the sinking.
