Oite



DescriptionOn 18 February 1944, in Operation Hailstone, the Japanese destroyer was sunk in Truk harbor by Allied aircraft. Oite was torpedoed, broke in half, and sank almost immediately, killing 172 of 192 crew and all 523 survivors that she had rescued from the Agano that was sunk two days earlier.
