DescriptionOn 11 January 1944 the Japanese cruiser, after leaving Penang with the destroyer Uranami on anti-submarine warfare exercises, was torpedoed and sunk by the British submarine HMS Tally-Ho. Of the 450 aboard 138 were killed; survivors were rescued by Uranami.
