DescriptionOn 8 June 1942 the Italian destroyer, while escorting a convoy from Naples to Tripoli, was torpedoed by the Italian submarine Alagi in a friendly fire incident. The destroyer immediately broke in two and sank in a few minutes off Cape Bon. 141 of the 306 people aboard (including a small group of naval officers and ratings on passage) were killed.
