Amphitrite

DescriptionThe ship sailed from Woolwich, England on 25 August 1833 with 108 women convicts and 12 children. While off Boulogne, France she encountered a gale and was blown ashore on 31 August. The captain refused offers of aid from the shore as prisoners were aboard. The ship then broke up, killing 133 people; three survivors were rescued.
