DescriptionOn 29 October 1942 the British ship Abosso was in the Atlantic about 589 nautical miles (1,091 km) north of the Azores when she was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-575. 10 lifeboats and rafts were launched but only one was recovered. 362 of the 393 people aboard were killed.
